Gosh, this resonates. We spent 20 years living an ‘expat’ life so have moved many times, each time leaving behind a garden I had loved and tended. I can’t help myself; I think some of us are simply born to leave a mark on the places we live in this way - so carry on and may the sun shine on you often over the coming weeks. Xx
I shall miss the Barn, too. I’m glad you are giving it your all for the time you have it.
Hope you are feeling better? I think I have labyrinthitis. Had it once before. Ended up being ambulanced to West Cornwall hospital, abandoning the hospital pool car on the verge, It’s disabling and miserable. I refuse to stay out of the garden! It’s beginning to look SO much better! AND, the tulips are almost out! And if I end up on the deck, I expect Roscoe will keep me company!
Lovely piece, it feels almost like a philosophical question: who is a garden for anyway? I say do it and enjoy it. The potential transience is part of its magic.
