OMG I went to Selfridges too, to get my nose pierced, I wanted a proper job done, when the lady used an ear gun with a butterfly back I kicked off and said it was the wrong thing to use and got it for free. I expected better tbh. Piercing wasn't really a thing back then, occasionally you would see a student with a nose stud, but punks went all out, so you did them yourself. couple of ice cubes and a sterile safety pin! Yes I still have at least 4 homemade ones :) I did enjoy your planting list and pics too xx

Oh god yes. When at boarding school I admit I stuck pins into some of my friends. With their consent I hasten to add. It was all the rage.

we had the sense not to go for the compass and Indian ink though! I am so glad I waited until I was 21 for my first tattoo :) very proud of my ink, its all gorgeous, even the apprentice piece.

Beauty photos. Maybe I need roses now… Nasturtium pesto is an option if you are overrun.

We’ve also inherited ancient old roses. They were basically just fat, gnarly old sticks and I had no clue what to do so I just sawed them off. (I know… it was before we met).

They’re still growing tho!!

I am so sorry that you were put through the dancing purgatory. Tho Scottish through and through, my mother thankfully had a horror of Scottish Highland dancing (tho an accomplished Scottish Country dancer who could navigate the ferociously difficult Earl of Errol with ease). I was thus spared being a "quinie dirdin' on weet buirds" at Highland games (a girl jumping up and down on wet boards. Sounds better in Scots).

Nasturtiums are glorious. If you leave them to set seed you will have nasturtiums the following year. Perhaps many, many more than you want, but you can pull them up.

Everywhere is parched dust just now, so you may find that your cutting patch works another year in that spot, if you're still at Daisy Barn.
