Women are so often antidote to men. If only they would actually bloody listen.
Also I have a few of these roses, inuding Cecile B growing up the side of the house. After a renovation prune it's looking remarkable this year, I must try and get a photo. You've chosen a lovely mix. X
Congratulations on your surprise garden! There’s a new(ish) sweet pea variety called ‘Shell Pink’, I’m growing it for the first time this year and it’s lovely ✨
Corncockle is a delight, and also the ultimate thriver. I sowed a wildflower mix one year. Next year it was mostly corncockle that came up, with a few phacelia and calendula. The year after, that area was solid corncockle, and so were the adjacent gravel paths. It has very very deep taproots. I'll post a Note of it in its demure phase. Maybe it's because my garden was once a field, within living memory, that it got so rampant. South London might be safely far enough removed from "field".
A cup spilling over with all that is our lives. Spirits lifted by your enthusiasm and get up and go! My garden too is shaded out by trees, but I think we make too much of the need for sun and I’ve decided that shade has many benefits!
Because you are the only person in my sphere who will truly appreciate this: a few days ago I smelled a rose in Buchart Gardens in Victoria, BC and it was the most amazing thing I had ever smelled. I never understood the whole obsession with roses…I think like most people all I knew were the red ones you got at the grocery store as a last minute gift for someone. I didn’t know they could smell? And smell like that? Not sure if you are already totally rosed out BUT if you have room, the one I smelled was a soft pink (Scandinavian very) and called Bolero :)
Omg I just looked it up and OMG! SO BEAUTIFUL!! Thank you for this ti, Catie, I’m now on a mission to find it and buy it and smell it so we can share the experience across the ocean. Make sure to ALWAYS stop and stick you nose in a rose as you pass, that is one of my rules for life.
This is THE MOST WONDERFUL THING ❤️❤️❤️
Apple juice, dandelions. A pink rose. What else is there? ✨🩷
Right?
I thought you’d peaked at this quote but then you went on with MORE PINK ROSES.
I understood the brief!!

Oh my goodness! I had no idea it's such a thug! I love it as a cut flower, it is so beautiful, but I will now treat it with greater caution!
Should also have said, crucially for you with your dogs, that all parts of it, seeds included, are extremely poisonous including to dogs.
Ok this I needed to know - it was on my seed list!

Sounds amazing!

Well fk, that was a rollercoaster. I cried and smiled xx
I am thrilled for you and your new garden project. Looking forward to reading more about it as you progress. Best wishes,.Zen 💚
No mow patches you can set a new Path mowing through it and the kids can roll or play mazes
My brother used to do this when we suddenly moved from suburban estate garden to an enormous wilderness
Yes! I did this at the barn! It’s magical walking a mown path through flowers.
Wow! It's like the saying long distance walkers have - "the trail provides"... you needed a garden and now your life provides! Amazing.
Amazing, you are so lucky.
Beautiful. Looking forward to this journey 🌸🌱🌹🌱
